Gray Wolf, "Canis lupus"
Gray Wolf, "Canis lupus"

“Wild Eyes”
Limited Edition of 195 | Artist Proof 25

There is nothing more awe-inspiring than to be alone in the back-country and to hear a pack of wolves howling on a clear moonlit night. Wolves do not howl at the moon as some may think but they are certainly more vocal when it is lighter at night, usually when there is a full moon. Wolves use a complex form of communication with sounds ranging from barks to howls and whines to growls. They may howl to warn other packs to stay out of their territory or they may howl to rendezvous with the rest of the pack. Perhaps wolves howl just for the shear enjoyment of it.
