Polar Bear, "Ursus maritimus"

“Peek-A-Boo”
Limited Edition of 195 | Artist Proof 25

When the family leaves the den, the cubs weigh between 10 to 15 kg (22 to 33 lb) and are strong enough to keep up with the mother on the way back out to the pack ice. The mother stops periodically to let the cubs rest and nurse in the shelter of a day bed that she digs in the snow. Polar bear milk has the highest fat content of any mammal, providing an excellent source of nourishment for the growing cubs. This adorable polar bear cub is ready for its first seal hunt out on the sea ice, as he makes his way through the jumbled ice ridges.
