Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta

“Reflecting Jewel”
Limited Edition of 195 | Artist Proof 25

Once proudly displayed on the Canadian $20 bill, Moraine Lake remains one of the most photographed locations in Canada. American writer and explorer, Walter Dwight Wilcox (1869-1949), who named the lake, thought it was formed by blockage from a glacial moraine. However, a more acceptable theory is that the lake was created by a large rock slide from the cliffs to the southeast.
